Sādhaka Zero: Ashish Sood

I'm the midlifer who refuses to decline. Want to know if the same is possible for you?

A personal account of testing, measuring and rebuilding my own health at 54, and an open invitation to talk about yours.

How Old Are You, Really?

Why I Started This

My mother spent her last years in age-related decline. I kept asking why we accept that as "normal"?

Not death: death is inevitable. But frailty, dependency, the slow loss of vitality that we've all quietly agreed to call "just getting older." I couldn't let that question go.

At the time, I was 94.5 kilos, pre-diabetic, with the same blood work most midlife Indians quietly arrive at. I'd already given myself a title, Sādhaka Zero, the first practitioner of the system I wanted to build, but I wasn't living it. I couldn't build something for healthy ageing while ignoring my own body's data.

What you just watched is that story. What follows on this page is what I've learned since, and an open door if you're asking some of the same questions I was.

What I Believe

I don't believe in anti-ageing. I believe in earned vitality.

Not hacks. Habits. Not miracles. Compounding. My whole approach comes down to one loop, repeated every 90 days: test, interpret, implement, test again.

Stop guessing. Every blood test was telling me the same story: too much food, too little movement, too much stress, too little recovery. The problem was never information. It was implementation.

Small and honest beats extreme and unsustainable. No crash diets, no injections, no dependence on gadgets. Just movement, breath, nutrition, recovery, mindfulness, diagnostics and consistency, applied in 90-day cycles.

Measure what matters. A falling Functional Age, not a feeling, not a compliment, is the one number that proves any of this actually worked.

Who I Am

Three decades building companies. Eleven years of yogic discipline. Four years immersed in longevity science.

I've launched, failed, scaled and sold startups since 1992, and picked up an Executive MBA from IMD Switzerland along the way: the operator's instinct that told me a healthy-ageing system needed to be tested, not theorised.

In 2016 I moved into a Sivananda Ashram and lived and trained there for two years, certified as a teacher that year, then as a master in 2017. Since 2022 I've been studying longevity science closely: Peter Attia, Ray Kurzweil, Rhonda Patrick, Andrew Huberman, David Sinclair among the influences.

The realisation that shaped everything: at Sivananda, the ancient texts described the same mechanisms modern longevity science would later prove with biomarkers. Same science, five thousand years apart. That's what I set out to build, tested on my own biology first.

My Own Numbers

Age on my passport: 54. Nine months, one experiment, on myself.

I ran this loop on myself three times. Here's what moved:

A falling Functional Age was the one number that proved the loop worked: diagnostically, not just how I felt in the mirror.

How I Live Now

Not a lifestyle overhaul. Just about an hour a day.

My day still starts and ends the way anyone's does. But somewhere in it, a walk, a breath practice, a meal I've actually thought about, a moment of stillness, a look at what my own numbers are telling me, I fit in the seven things I now practise deliberately.

{{ practice }}

None of it is punishing. None of it requires a gym, a coach standing over me, or a wearable telling me I've failed today. It's just consistency, repeated long enough to show up in a blood test.

Who I Want To Talk To

I'm not looking for athletes, influencers or perfect people.

I'm looking for honest people: people willing to stop guessing about their own bodies and start measuring. If you're in midlife, noticing the drift, and curious whether the same loop that worked for me could work for you, I'd like to hear your story.

This isn't a sales call. It's a conversation, about where you are, what you're curious about, and whether it's worth going further.

The Consult

Book a free 30-minute consult with SZ.

✓ 30 minutes, one on one. With me, not a sales team.

✓ No cost, no obligation. The point is a conversation, not a pitch.

✓ We'll talk about your story: where you are, what's been tried, what hasn't worked.

✓ And whether Functional Ages could help. I'll be honest about whether what worked for me is likely to be useful for you, and point you toward SOHAM's full programme, at sohamscience.com, only if it makes sense.

The Promise

Understand where you are. Improve what you can. Preserve what matters. Age consciously.

I didn't build this as a theory. I tested it on myself first, three times through the same 90-day loop, before I ever suggested it to anyone else.

Curious if the same loop could work for you? Let's talk.
